Pre-coronavirus I ran monthly Intro to Wine classes at P&V Merchants in Newtown and Native Drops in Bondi. Post-coronavirus, I’ve been running the class online via Zoom and have partnered with the likes of DRNKS for bi-weekly winemaker tastings and Ticketek for Meet the Winemaker.
While life is still ever changing, these are on pause at the moment, however, if you’d like to book a private event for groups of 10 or more then get in touch!
Until then, here’s the breakdown of what Intro to Wine Online looks like.
Intro to Wine Online
This (virtual) class is for people who want to know more about wine. You might be a beginner or someone who knows the basics but wants to firm up what you know and feel less intimidated when faced with the task of choosing and buying our favourite drop.
And in the spirit of our current situation, I’m bringing the party to you! You can either grab your own wine (I will recommend three types for you to pick up) or I will set up a pack for you to buy (again , three bottles per house is more than enough!), join us on Zoom and let’s talk wine. The Zoom link will be shared before the class.
What to expect from Intro to Wine online
🙋🏼 Run by a Sydney based Brit who really (really) loves wine
And I want to show you how to love it as much as I do
🤓 Learn the basics of tasting
What to look for on sight, smell and taste and pick up tips you can use every time you pop a vino
👀 Sound wine smart (not pretentious)
No questions are stupid questions and this will be an interactive session, so ask everything you’ve ever been afraid to ask and get the answer that will make you look v intelligent in front of your mates/parents/date
🍷 BYO or buy a pack wine
I’ll either suggest three wines to bring – a white, rose and a red or I can set up a pack especially for the event from a local wine store. I will give you topline info on the types of wines, general wine tips for each and you can ask any questions about the wine you’ve brought along
🌱 Learn about the differences between natural, organic and biodynamic
These terms are cropping up more and more and can be confusing. We’ll bust the myths and will talk through the pros and cons of each
🧀 Grab some snacks
I usually serve up some cheese, crisps, dips and the like!
💡 Go on then, I’ll throw in a quiz
Everyone loves a quiz!! Let’s see what you learned (disclaimer: the only prize is pride)
🥂 Let’s drink together (but safely)
It’s a weird time for everyone but I’m hoping to bring you a bit of light relief and a fun place to learn about wine while sipping on the good stuff. Hope you can join me!
Want to book wine classes for a private group in person?
I can do that too! We can still safely get together for anything from corporate events to hen parties. I can arrange a class that suits you and your group. Drop me an email on [email protected] and we can chat!
How’s your wine class review section?
I mean, I think the class is great (obvs). But you can see reviews for my classes here.
